Building award winning retirement developments

Hackwood has extensive experience in the contracting sector working for a two high profile, award winning retirement housebuilders in the south of England.

We have successfully trialled the use of bathroom pods, craned into position on our developments, reducing time on site and reducing our company carbon footprint.

In addition to our many years of experience in building apartment blocks we have also completed plots of new build houses and bungalows.

Complex Refurbishments

We have completed a number of complex refurbishment projects, including the complete refurbishment of 84 apartments, situated over 21 shops, communal areas and stair cores in a shopping centre in Norwich.

This particularly challenging project involved completing the works whilst areas remained in use to the public for access to the commercial properties and access to occupied apartments.

Extensions

We have experience in many extension projects, including a large project and conversion work to a Victorian Villa Hotel in the New Forest, creating six high specification retirement apartments and, as part of a wider new build project, two larger blocks of apartments and two cottages.

Conversions

Hackwood Homes has extensive experience in converting building.

Hackwood’s own head office was previously a redundant warehouse situated within a haulage yard. This was converted into offices within a three-month period. We have also completed conversions of Grade II listed barns situated within Grade 1 listed parkland.

Basement car parking

Hackwood has built basement parking for up to 35 cars in some of the retirement developments. The basements are generally accessed via a resin bonded ramp or, on land restricted sites, via the installation of two car lifts.
